Does Intel's lower Q3-2010 guidance affect a number of my Stock Picks which are in the semi-con equipment sector ??!!
Tuesday 31 Aug 2010 @ 10:30 AM
Last Friday, Intel lowered its Q3-2010 revenue guidance to US$10.8bn to US$11.2bn from US$11.2bn to US$12bn previously. The higher guidance was given about six weeks earlier. Intel attributed the lower guidance to slower PC sales. After the lower guidance, Intel is still ontrack to get 17-18% revenue growth this year. Its gross profit margin of 66-67% is also a high number for a normal weak quarter.

InvestFair 2010......some questions posed to the panel on Themes for 2010....from Genting to where the STI Index will be by the end of 2010
Tuesday 24 Aug 2010 @ 11:55 AM
InvestFair 2010 was held at Marina Bay Sands......the YOG made getting their last Saturday a bit difficult for me because the roads were closed and only opend at 1pm. Finding parking at the Convention Centre wasnt difficult especially when your daily rate could be as high as S$30.00. The building is still under construction so signs and directions were a problem.

TSH Corporation - a golf course recommendation......supposed to be a 4 bagger.....anyone has anything to add on the recent interest in the stock !!??
Monday 23 Aug 2010 @ 1:38 PM
I dont always give recommendations on what stocks to buy. Sometimes people give me recommendations....for me its usually on the golf course or at the 19th hole. One such recommendation was TSH Corporation......I was told it would be a four bagger. Being a typical fundamentalist, I went down to have a look at the published financial information (results releases, annual report and Bloomberg). Bloomberg was really out of date and referred to the company's business as being in aircraft parts, something which the company exited some years back.

Troubled Jaya Holdings bounces back from its financial woes with solid S$103mn net profit for 2010.....this Stock Pick remains one of the cheapest marine plays in Singapore
Monday 23 Aug 2010 @ 9:41 AM
Jaya Holdings was almost a victim of the Global financial crisis. It has since rebounded nicely following a successful debt restructuring in early 2010. I added Jaya to my Stock Picks on June 28, 2010 after a meeting with management. That was just after the release of their Q3-2010 results where they reported nine month net profit of S$72.4mn on revenue of S$153mn. Jaya was and is still one of the cheapest marine related stocks in Singapore in both price to book and PER terms.

Hock Lian Seng reports 62% rise in H1-2010 net profit to S$15.2mn....earnings boosted by S$4mn gain in divestment of investment securities
Tuesday 17 Aug 2010 @ 9:08 AM
Hock Lian Seng reported its H1-2010 results which showed a 9% rise in revenue to S$118.7mn while net profit was higher by S$15.2mn. But the profits were boosted by a S$4mn gain from sale of investment in securities - if we strip that out, net profit would have grown by 19.2% to S$11.2mn.
